Facebook introduced colored status on its Android app which helps users to write their status update with a colorful background, font, and emoji combination in the previous year. Now, WhatsApp for Android will get a new feature with which the users will be able to put a colorful text status instead of pictures and videos. This feature is available for the beta users and is now at the stage of testing. This means that WhatsApp will introduce this feature for the general public very soon.
As per a report by the Android Police, the feature is not yet available on WhatsApp’s latest beta version 2.17.291 but some users have reported access to this feature on the same version. Few users are now seeing a floating pen icon in the Status tab at the bottom of the screen, right above the camera icon. But a report by Android Police hints that the feature is probably a server-side test.
Reports claim that WhatsApp will add a new floating pencil button above the camera icon on the Status tab. To put a colored text status like in Facebook, WhatsApp users will just have to click on the floating pencil, write and upload it.
The report also suggests that WhatsApp will probably bring three options to the users with the new feature with which the users will be able — to add emojis, select font, and change the background color as well. This will allow the users to design interesting colored text status. After the text status is created, to upload, users will be required to click on the green arrow icon at the bottom right to post Status.
WhatsApp reports that its service has over 1 billion daily active users and 1.3 billion monthly active users.till the last month. It has been expanding its offering with new features like voice and video calling and support for sharing any file type.
