TRAI Reduces Call Rates for National Roaming

There will be a 20% and 75% drop in charges of voice call and messages when you are outside the home circle. The new Tariff will become effective from May 1. Experts say that the decision taken by TRAI may make some problems to the revenues of top service providers.

According to the decisions TRAI specifies that there should be special tariffs which make the incoming call free when the subscriber is in roaming. From May 1 onwards the maximum charge for voice calls will be 80 paisa/minute (earlier 1 Rs/Minute) and for STD calls it will be 1.15 Rs/Minute (earlier 1.50 Rs/Minute) on roaming. On roaming the maximum charge for incoming calls will be a maximum of 45 paisa/minute (earlier 75 paisa/minute). For local SMS the new charge will be 25 Paisa/SMS earlier it was Rs. 1/SMS. For STD SMS charges drop from Rs. 1.15/SMS to 38 paisa/SMS.
