Swipe Intros Halo Android ICS Tablet Starting Rs 9,000

Swipe Telecom has unveiled its latest Halo range tablet; one with 3G and the other with 2G. The Halo 3G, as the name suggests, supports 3G for data and voice calling, while the Halo Edge does the same but with a 2G SIM. Both run on Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich and are powered by a 1.5 GHz processor and 1 GB RAM. The internal storage is 4GB, which can be expanded up to 32 GB via the microSD slot.

The Halo Edge comes with dual cameras, but there’s only one 0.3 MP front camera on the Halo 3G. Wi-Fi with hotspot functionality is available on both tablets; connectivity is also possible via external 3G dongles.

The Halo 3G comes with its 3G SIM, video calling capability, and large, 17.7-cm (7-inch) screen. But the Halo Edge with its 2G SIM may actually be a better deal. The screen is the same size, but the pixel dimensions are 1024×768, which means more pixels and therefore better clarity. Like the Halo 3G, the SIM supports voice as well as data. It is a thousand rupees cheaper, too.

Both the tablets come with just 4 GB of internal storage (meaning about 2 GB at your disposal), so you’re almost compelled to invest in a microSD card at the outset. The Swipe Halo 3G costs Rs 10,000; the Halo Edge is priced at Rs 9,000.
