Simple Rules To Select A Tablet

While some who are familiar with the technology details of a tablet talk in a different tangent, others who are not too familiar keep pondering about the perfect tablet for them. Worry not. Choosing the right kind of tablet is not a big deal.

For new users, there are three major things to focus on- cost, size and operating system. When it comes to operating system, your primary options are Android and iPad. There is also a Windows tablet, but it is not much of a competition for the two operating systems. First and foremost, assign a budget to your buy. If you don’t want an expensive one, Android is your best bet. But if cost is not a constraint for you, your options multiply.

The first rule to follow in case of operating system is – if you are using an Android phone, opt for an Android tablet, which has a whale of options. And those using iPhone should go for iPad. The reason is familiarity. Suggests Billy Grimes from Best Buy, “If you do have an iPhone we are typically going to look at an iPad. If you have an Android-based phone, we’re going to look at an Android-based tablet. Have something that’s a little more familiar to you, something that you’re used to using already.”

Then comes the size. The industry has observed that women prefer the 7-inch tablets, while men prefer the bigger size. Till about early last year, Kindle Fire was one of the most popular options in the small size tablet category, but this year saw the launch of a number of 7-inch tablets, including the Mini iPad that was launched recently.
