RIM Working On Blackberry 10 Aristo Smartphone

Research In Motion (RIM) is quietly planning to launch an army of devices that will run on the BlackBerry 10 mobile operating system.

Codenamed as Aristo, this BlackBerry 10.x running device carries internal model number R081. As per the report, Aristo would have a 11.8-cm (4.65-inch) capacitive touchscreen display with an OCTA Gloss OLED panel and would support 1280 x 720 pixel resolution natively.

Under the hood, the smartphone will pack a quad-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 mobile processor. The mobile chipset couples the LTE network supporting Qualcomm for faster data connectivity. RIM will also load 2 GB RAM in this smartphone.

The device will have an 8 MP rear camera with flash and would be capable of recording 1080p HD videos. The device will have a front 2 MP camera capable of recording 720p HD videos. Interestingly, RIM is looking to add four microphones for better audio capture.

Other set of features include an Autonomous GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, DLNA support, micro USB port, micro HDMI out, gyroscope, accelerometer, magnetometer, altimeter and also Near Field Communication (NFC) chip.

If the specs are anything to go by, the device will look like a heavily loaded machine and will compete with HTC’s products, Sony’s Xperia series and other notable smartphone makers in the market.

RIM has formally announced that the BlackBerry 10 based devices will be released in the first half of 2013.
