For those who were intent on buying the OnePlus 3 smartphone but did not actually end up buying one of these limited editions due to its unavailability, here is your chance to acquire an enhanced and improved version. Following Qualcomm’s report of a new OnePlus device on the way, OnePlus has finally confirmed that the new device running on Snapdragon 821 is all set to be unveiled on November 15.
As rumoured, this newest addition to the OnePlus family will start at $479, $80 more than its predecessor. Aside from the new SoC, it will also pack a bigger battery of 3300 mAh, a 128 GB storage and will run Android 7.0 Nougat on the get-go. Even while OnePlus hasn’t officially announced the name of the device, an earlier post made by a designer on Weibo has hinted that it will be called the OnePlus 3T.
For the unaware, the Snapdragon 821 is Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile chip. According to a tweet from OnePlus, the upcoming device’s Snapdragon 821 will be clocked at 2.35 GHz and with quad-core architecture, making the device faster than Google’s new Pixel flagship.
The inclusion of the new chip won’t be the only big change. Another rumour from the Chinese company has claimed that the device will come with a 16 MP Sony IMX398 camera sensor. Combined with the existing sleek design, sporting a 5.5 inch screen with 1080p display, an LCD panel (maybe not AMOLED one), 6 GB of RAM, light software, better battery backup and other tweaks, the users should expect a fluid experience indeed.
So there we go, the OnePlus 3T appears to be an upgraded version of the OnePlus 3 rather than a full sequel, definitely giving customers some more choices just before the Christmas splurging season. The launch of the phone will be on Facebook Live and will be starting on November 15 at 1pm EST.
