New Instagram Feature : Quote Posts Resharing in your Stories

Quote-Storying could help keep the feed relevant as more clients invest their time sharing to the little bubbles that sit above it.

The famous photo and video sharing application, Instagram, is all set to transform how users interact with its ‘Stories’ feature. Instagram’s next big ‘Stories’ feature, their official reshare button, could give clients a chance to compliment or trash other people’s feed posts or insert a “see post” button to promote their own feed.

Instagram Stories is testing a post resharing choice feature that will enable clients to share other clients’ posts on their stories. Based on the reviews from clients who have the feature, it appears if this feature moves out of the testing phase, re-shared posts could soon show the original content quoted below — similar to retweets on Twitter.

Instagram confirmed that it is indeed testing this new technology among a subset of clients. “We’re continually trying approaches to make it simpler to share any moment with friends on Instagram,” a delegate for the social media app told.

Instagram has not had an authentic “regram” feature with the feed before. Previously, there have only been huge numbers of informal applications

The testing feature works when you pick any public, permanent Instagram post and tap a button to embed it in your story. You can tap to change the design to highlight or downplay the post’s author, move and resize it within your story post, and add commentary or imagery using Instagram’s creative tools. When individuals see the story, they can tap on the post embed to bring up a ‘see post’ button which opens the permanent feed post. Clients who don’t need their posts to be “quote-Storied” can turn off the option in their settings, and just public posts can be reshared.

However, for individuals who like retweeting, this new option would make it a whole lot easier to re-share Instagram content, which implies individuals will be much more likely to do it. Re-sharing Instagram posts have long been a desired feature among clients, but according to an interview with Wired, CEO Kevin Systrom noticed that Instagram not having a re-sharing option was a deliberate decision, though all of that could soon be changing.

Quote-Storying could help keep the feed relevant as more clients invest their time sharing to the little bubbles that sit above it. It provides a viral discover method for creators who can now request their fans to immediately reshare their post instead of having to awkwardly screenshot and upload them.

“We debate the re-share thing a lot. Because obviously, individuals like the possibility of re-sharing content that they find. Instagram is full of awesome stuff. In fact, one of the fundamental ways the individuals can interact over Instagram Direct now is actually they share content that they find on Instagram,” Systrom explained in a Q&A with Wired reporter Nicholas Thompson in August.

The move by Instagram further ties together the three sections of its application: the permanent feed, ephemeral Stories, and private Direct messaging. You can imagine somebody finding a post in the feed, resharing it their story, then joking about it with friends over Direct. In fact, so the number of individuals need to repost and are fatigued of taking screen captures, that there is even a Reddit thread dedicated to complaining about the current reposting application options, which can be somewhat buggy.
