Greenify, the Android Battery Saver, Now Supports Unrooted Phones

Greenify, the awesome auto-hibernating battery saver, used to be a root-only app. As of this weekend, Greenify also works with non-rooted devices, with a few caveats.P

If you’re rooted, Greenify will automatically hibernate apps you’re not using to ensure they’re not misbehaving in the background. This isn’t possible on non-rooted phones, but Greenify now includes the ability to add a “hibernate all” shortcut to your home screen. That way, when you’re sticking your phone back in your pocket, you can just tap the hibernate shortcut and Greenify will manually hibernate all your chosen apps so they don’t run in the background. It isn’t quite as convenient, but if you don’t want to root, it’s a nice enough workaround. (That said, rooting is pretty easy, so it’s worth doing for apps like Greenify.)
