Microsoft announced the ‘Anniversary Update’ for all devices currently running Windows 10. The update, which is due to arrive later this year, will bring numerous exciting features to the OS, such as Windows Ink (for stylus based input devices), Windows Hello (biometric authentication) and DirectX 12 powered games (with Xbox Live features). But in addition to that, the ‘Anniversary Update’ will bring a host of functionalities to Cortana as well.
This is evident from the recently released Insider Preview Build 14352. The newest build adds a lot of cool features to Cortana, including the ability to turn her into a personal DJ. It can already play music that you have stored locally or on OneDrive . But with the Anniversary Update , it would be able to play any song from your entire Groove Music catalog. If you have a Groove Music Pass subscription, you can ask it to play your favourite artist, genre or even an entire playlist.
The newest Insider Preview Build also adds in the functionality to instruct Cortana to set a timer. There’s support for natural language commands, so you can ask it to remind you to get a snack, take a break and more. The improvements to Cortana are indicative that Windows 10 will keep on getting better with subsequent updates.
