Celkon Intros Android ICS Ee-Tab Tablet @ Rs 6,450

We recently covered all the Android tablets that came under the sub Rs 10,000 category, well here is another addition to the list. There are many Indian brands that are bringing out tablets and Celkon is one of them, which claims to be the top brand in South with regard to smartphones. This home-grown mobile phone brand has added fire to the ongoing low-cost tablet war with its Ee-Tab (CT-1). The tablet is priced at Rs 6,450 and comes bundled with applications that can be accessed offline.

This Hyderabad-based company plans to target students with embedding apps like My Tutor. This app basically carries data and question papers for students who are appearing for national common tests for engineering and management. The company said, “We have tied up with third party app developers for using some of these apps, For geeks, the 7-inch screen device comes with 512 MB RAM and 1.2 GHz processor. It is build on Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and contains 4 GB of internal memory with provision to expand up to 32 GB. Users can access the wireless networks using WiFi and 3G dongle options.”

Addressing the press at the conference, Y Guru, managing director, said the company has plans to sell one lakh tablets by December-end. “We are coming out with three more models in the next two months. One of them will have the provision to insert a sim card. It will be priced at Rs 1,000 more,” he added.
