State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has now recently updated Six of their FTTH plans with prices ranging from Rs. 777 to up to Rs.16999. Just after a few days of announcing their new Rs 2499 FTTH plan with a daily data limit of 4 GB, BSNL has now revised their existing six FTTH plans to offer daily data limits instead of the previous monthly data limit.
Just to put that into perspective, if you have taken a 500GB unlimited per month plan, you could use the internet and download 500GB of data at very high speed and after 500GB the speeds will be reduced to low speed. This was how it was before BSNL revised their plan. Now, if you have the same plan, you might have a daily limit of 16 GB and if you exceed the daily limit of 16 GB, even though you have 500GB unlimited plan, your speed will be reduced until the next day.
There are now six existing plans that have been revised to have daily data caps. They are listed in the following table.
Details | 18 GB Plan | 25 GB Plan | 40 GB Plan | 50 GB Plan | 80 GB Plan | 120 GB Plan | 170 GB Plan |
Speed before Data Limit | Up to 50 Mbps till 18 GB / day | Up to 100 Mbps till 25 GB / day | Up to 100 Mbps till 40 GB / day | Up to 60 Mbps till 50 GB / day | Up to 70 Mbps till 80 GB / day | Up to 100 Mbps till 120 GB / day | Up to 100 Mbps till 170 GB / day |
Speed After Data limit exceeded | Up to 2 Mbps | Up to 2 Mbps | Up to 2 Mbps | Up to 4 Mbps | Up to 6 Mbps | Up to 8 Mbps | Up to 10 Mbps |
Monthly Charge | Rs.777 | Rs.1277 | Rs.2499 | Rs.3999 | Rs.5999 | Rs.9999 | Rs.16999 |
These daily data limits have been implemented so that rather than having the internet slowdown to lower speeds early in the month. The net data offering hasn’t been changed but has been distributed into daily limits equally. This is great for most users but might be inconvenient to others.
These are the breakdowns of the plans along with their revised names.
BSNL 18GB Plan
This plan was previously called the “BSNL Fibro Combo ULD 777” and is the cheapest plan among the list. The data speeds will be reduced to 2Mbps if the user exceeds 18 GB during any of the days and the speeds will be restored to 50 Mbps the next day. Prior to this, customers used to get 500GB of data at 50Mbps for a whole month beyond which the speeds would be reduced to 2Mbps.
BSNL 25GB Plan
Previously named “Fibro Combo ULD 1277 plan”, BSNL 25GB Plan offers daily high-speed data of 25GB at 100Mbps speed for one month. After exceeding 25GB during any of the days, the speeds will be reduced to 2 Mbps and will be reset the next day. BSNL 50GB Plan
“Fibro Combo ULD 3999 FTTH plan” has now been renamed and revised to “BSNL 50GB Plan” and offers 50GB high-speed internet daily with 100Mbps speed and after crossing daily limit, the speed will be reduced to 4 Mbps. The plan previously offered users 750 GB at the same speeds of 100Mbps and 4Mbps after exceeding the monthly data limit. The plan is priced at rs.3999 Monthly.
BSNL 80GB Plan
“Fibro Combo ULD 5999” is now renamed as the BSNL 80GB Plan and as the name suggests, offers daily data limit of 80GB at a speed of 100Mpbs and the speed will be reduced to 6Mbps after exceeding the daily limit. The plan previously offered 1250GB of monthly data at 100Mbps speeds and after data, cap speeds would be reduced to 6Mbps. The plan is priced at Rs.5999

BSNL 170GB Plan
“Fibro Combo ULD 16999” is the final plan revised by BSNL and is the most expensive of the series. This plan offers 170GB of daily data in place of 3500GB data at 100Mbps and speeds reduced to 10 Mbps after exceeding the daily limit. This plan is priced at Rs.16999.
The plans have already been revised and existing customers for the above plans mentioned will be automatically subscribed to the corresponding revised plan of their previous plan. This move from BSNL ensures that users will always have access to the highest speeds during the entirety of the month but the daily data limits will be a slight problem for some users choosing the low tier FTTH plans. To most customers, however, the revision is probably unnoticeable and will better improve their user experience.
