BSNL planning to launch 4G service in Kerala by March 2017

BSNL, India’s largest Landline service provider is all set to offer 4G services in Kerala by next year, probably in the month of March. State-run BSNL is already trying their maximum to attract new ones to the network as well as to convince the old ones by providing some exciting offers. With the recent moves like increasing minimum speed to 1Mbps, free unlimited calls on any mobile or landline number in the country on Sundays and free night calling to all networks from 9PM to 7AM, users are already impressed with BSNL.

The Chief General Manager of BSNL, Kerala Circle, R Mani mentioned that in order to encourage new subscribers and bring back old customers who switched to other players they have introduced the LL49 Experience plan with a fixed monthly charge of just Rs.49 for the first six months. The  BSNL 4G plan would be introduced as part of the company’s expansion at the Phase-8 pan-India level and a tender for it has already been called for it. A set of 190 new Wi-Fi access points would also be implemented in the state circle during the current financial year. He also mentioned that 4G will be introduced in selected cities in Kerala circle by next March. As part of this, 663 4G towers will be installed. Initiatives to expand the existing 2G and 3G services are also in the cards.  Another 1,083 new 3G sites will be launched in the state and all old technology 2G sites will be replaced with new technology 2G sites.

The spokesperson claimed that BSNL’s 3G speed is much faster than the 4G services offered by others. On Wi-Fi service expansion, he said that BSNL’s Kerala circle has implemented 160 Wi-Fi Access Points at 93 locations and another 190 points will be implemented during the current financial year. All these sites are mobile date offloading enabled which gives Wi-Fi access to mobile customers.
