A couple of hours back game developer Rovio announced the latest iteration of its popular Angry Birds series— Angry Birds Star Wars II. The game will be launched across mobile platforms on September 19.
Though the game is a sequel to the earlier released Angry Birds Star Wars, the story follows the prequel trilogy, much like how George Lucas released the Star Wars films. The game will introduce more than 30 playable characters, but Rovio has decided to keep them under the wraps. That won’t stop us from expecting bird versions of Darth Maul, a young Anakin Skywalker and Jar Jar Binks among others. One can also choose sides in this game, so there’s nothing stopping a gamer from ‘Joining the Pork side’.
To introduce these characters, Rovio has teamed up with toy maker Hasbro to allow one to buy game-related toys called ‘Telepods’. Once you buy a toy, you will be able to scan them using your phone or tablet’s camera and immediately that toy will become a playable character in the game.
Details of the game itself are a bit scarce and more information should slowly become available as we near September 19.
