Samsung Confirms Jelly Bean Update For Galaxy S2 In Feb

The good news has finally arrived. Samsung has confirmed that Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone users will start receiving the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system update in the beginning of February. However, the update is only restricted in Singapore. The good thing is that the update is ready and very soon we can expect Samsung to roll out Jelly Bean for Galaxy S2 in other parts of the world, including India.

The update would be available via Samsung Kies and not over-the-air (OTA) and will eat away 1GB of the 12GB of available internal memory.

Also, the Jelly Bean source code for model number GT-I9100_HK of Galaxy S2 has been released. With this release, developers can start working on the Android 4.1 ROM for S2. Previously, we reported that the Jelly Bean update for the handset has been leaked and if you cannot wait for the official release, then you can resort to the XDA forum to install Jelly Bean on your Galaxy S2.

Google’s Project Butter powered Jelly Bean enhances user interface and brings in an integrated voice recognition engine. Users will also get new notifications bar, two home screen modes and a re-organised settings menu. Rumours have it that the S2 will also get Galaxy Note like features.
